The Dr. Terry Kuhn Distinguished Undergraduate Advising Award is an opportunity for Kent State University students to recognize the outstanding contributions of an academic or faculty advisor. The award will be presented annually to a full-time academic or faculty advisor who demonstrates a commitment to student success inside and outside of the classroom. A Distinguished Advisor is one who fosters an empowering advising relationship that models NACADA’s Core Values as well as Kent State University’s Advising Guidelines.. The award is sponsored by Academic Engagement and Degree Completion and University College

A nomination acknowledges an advisor's abilities and attributes and should be guided by the following award criteria categories. Please provide specific and complete answers when explaining the advisor’s performance in each area:


  • Providing Useful and Timely Information
  • Guidance and Advocacy for Students
  • Mentoring and Positive Support
  • Connecting Students to the Campus Community
